A word from the President:
Hello and welcome to POV Filmmakers, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone to the collective. The purpose of POV is to foster networking, collaboration, and resources for a community of filmmakers. And you play a vital role in making this collective work. Your expertise will help others that are new by fostering relationships, extending a helpful hand out to a new filmmaker, and being a mentor by teaching a craft imperative to the process of filmmaking. If you are new to filmmaking it is your responsibility to participate in the process by diving in on projects and acting as a sponge to soak up and learn the craft. This collective has been active since September 2022, it started out as a group benefitting only screenwriters and quickly grew. Now, ten months later, we are open to all who benefit or contribute to the filmmaking process.
POV filmmakers is an opportunity to engage and immerse oneself on projects in the works or those starting to get off the ground. There are many screenwriters, directors, sound technicians, gaffers, producers, hair and makeup professionals, directors of photography (DP’S), production assistants (PA’S), colorists, editors, set construction, location managers, actors, agents, prop managers, and many other pertinent people that make up an entire crew for a production to start and complete a film. You just need to reach out and network to get started.
Over the course of the next year a complete board will organize, a non-profit status will be obtained, and regular monthly meetings will continue bringing in speakers that will benefit the entire group for educational and networking purposes. The board will complete a five-year plan laying out the goals and stepping stones to make this group worth everyone’s time and efforts they put into the collective.
I am honored to serve as the board President, I come with years of experience serving on many types of boards over the last forty years serving as president and as artistic director. I have worked professionally in film for many years as an actor and location manager. My desire is to grow this collective during my tenure, making sure there is a clear understanding that we welcome all who are interested in the process of filmmaking and not a clique group and to reside over the board, helping guide it through the process of board responsibilities.
I’m always approachable and welcome feedback and suggestions.
Lastly, I want to truly thank you for being here and giving up your personal time, talents, and knowledge. You are what makes this collective successful.
